Patron Privacy Protection
The Empire Theatre & Centre for the Performing Arts (the "Theatre") acknowledges the individual's right to privacy and is committed to protecting the confidentiality of its patrons' personal information. While the Empire Theatre has always had this aim, its privacy policy provides patrons with all of the safeguards recently legislated in the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), which came into effect January 1, 2004.
The Theatre collects personal information in order to complete patron requests and orders for tickets, and to enhance the theatergoing experience as much as possible. Depending on the nature of a patron's relationship with the Theatre, such information may include the following: home address, phone number(s), fax number(s), e-mail address(es), credit card number(s), spouse partner details, a complete record of all tickets purchased, donations made, requests for brochures & information, and preferences or special needs identified by the patron, such as special-access seating. Patrons will only be contacted by phone, mail or e-mail if they have requested such contract and patrons may remove themselves from any Theatre mailing list by contacting the Theatre.
The Theatre's Online Box Office employs a Secure Server using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption for the secure exchange of data between the patron and our system. The system supports 128bit SSL encryption. The Theatre's website is secured and verified using a GeoTrust True BusinessID digital certificate.
The Theatre does not and will not lend, rent, sell or give its patron list to any organization or individual. The Theatre as agent for organizations which use our box office for their subscription activities (i.e. Quinte Symphony Orchestra and Quinte Arts Council) does collect information for the patrons of those organizations). This information will only be given by the Theatre to the subscription organization after the express written consent of the patron has been obtained. If a patron declines to allow their personal information to be given out, the Theatre will withhold that information from the subscription organization.
The Theatre does contract third-party agencies to prepare mailings and conduct research on its behalf. You are assured that a privacy protection clause is included in all contracts between the Theatre and such third parties to guarantee that those third parties provide the same level of protection of it's patrons personal information as the Theatre itself does.
