The Comic Strippers

Shantero Productions presents …
The Comic Strippers
Saturday, October 1 @ 7:30 p.m.
Price:  $37.17 + HST + ticket service fees
Groups 10 or more:  $33.19 + HST + ticket service fess
The Comic Strippers are a fictitious male stripper troupe, played  by a cast of some of Canada’s best improvisational comedians. These guys try to be sexy… it just comes out funny. Constantly grooving and gyrating, in between scenes they banter with the crowd and perform their sexylarious twist on improv sketches. They sing, they “dance;” these guys are oiled up and ready to make you laugh. Women often say the most attractive thing about a man is his sense of humour – so ladies, these stripped-down comedians are sure to make your head explode. And not to worry, gentlemen, this is definitely a parody of male strippers. Some of the performers have what’s called ‘Comedy Bodies’ – they will make you look fabulous by comparison!
Semi-undressed and completely unscripted, The Comic Strippers take off their shirts and take on your suggestions to create a whole new genre of comedy.
WARNING: No extreme nudity, just extreme hilarity. A show for all genders… 19+ only

The Stampeders

Shantero Productions presents The Stampeders
Saturday, November 12 @  7:30 p.m.
Price:  $55.00 + ticket service fee
‘They’re on their way, to the city lights’ … and, THE predominant Canadian Rock ‘n’ Roll band of the 1970s – The Stampeders – are bringing along all their classic hits: Wild Eyes, Carry Me, Oh My Lady, Devil You, Monday Morning Choo Choo, Minstrel Gypsy, Hit the Road Jack and, of course, the quintessential Canadian – and Hall of Fame – song, Sweet City Woman!  A veritable soundtrack to a whole generation that will ‘carry you home’ … maybe not to Birmingham … but back to a time of tie-dyed t-shirts and elevator shoes, 15¢ coffee and homemade apple pie, dating and dreaming …  By the time The Stampeders get to the first chorus of the first song, everyone will be singing along.
No seventies group represented Canada’s musical identity to the world like The Stampeders. A quick look at Canada’s music scene from 1971 until 1976 confirms The Stampeders were truly the country’s international musical ambassadors, touring more extensively in Canada and overseas than any other Canadian group during that time.  In 1977 the trio: Rich Dodson (lead guitar), Kim Berly (drums) and Ronnie King (bass) parted company but reunited, fittingly at the Calgary Stampede, 15 years later in 1992.  Since then they’ve been recognized by SOCAN for their Lifetime Achievement, been inducted into the SOCAN Songwriters Hall of Fame on five occasions and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame for their 1971 seminal hit Sweet City Woman.  The enduring musical legacy of The Stampeders… ‘better catch a noon train, better get there for a rock ‘n’ rolling good time!’

Raffi is a singer, songwriter, producer, author, lecturer, and tireless advocate for children.  He is best known for his work as a children’s entertainer whose string of gold and platinum-selling recordings in North America includes his classic song, “Baby Beluga”.  Once called “the most popular children’s singer in the English-speaking world” (Washington Post) and “Canada’s all time children’s champion” (Toronto Star), Raffi is also a recipient of the Order of Canada and the United Nations’ Earth Achievement Award.  He has published three books and holds four honorary degrees. He has never advertised to children or made any commercial endorsements aimed at kids. His commitment to treating his young fans with respect changed society’s outlook on music made for children.
“It’s great fun singing for children and families,” says Raffi. “As well as singing many of my fans’ favorites, I look forward to sharing a song or two from my Love Bug album and my new one, Owl Singalong—and to the sounds of all of us singing old favourites from my very first album!”
In 2010, Raffi founded The Centre for Child Honouring on Salt Spring Island, BC.  With the motto “Respecting Earth & Child,” the Centre is at the heart of a global movement that views honouring children as the best way to create sustainable, peacemaking societies.
From Singable Songs to Child Honouring—40 years of Raffi!
A Raffi concert is best suited for children old enough to talk, sing or clap along. While Raffi’s music is enjoyed by babies at home, the live music experience is much louder and very different than hearing the recorded songs at home. While babies are welcome, they may not enjoy a loud concert singalong. Also, please keep in mind that the ticket policy of a theatre is that every person needs a ticket.

Brett Kissel

Price – $52.50 + ticket service fees

There must be something in the kick drum drumming, there must be something in the guitar strumming.”  It’s tempting to describe the chorus of Brett Kissel’s latest smash single, “Airwaves,” as what’s gotten him to this point, but that barely scratches the surface of the artistic growth Kissel displays on his new album, Pick Me Up. The pride of Flat Lake, Alberta has already reached a place very few other Canadian country music artists have attained, but defying the odds has been Kissel’s mission his entire life, the result of a tireless work ethic instilled while growing up on his family’s farm. Following the incredible success of his 2013 major label debut, Started With A Song, Pick Me Up shows that, like a thoroughbred just out of the gate, Kissel is hitting his stride.  The JUNO and CCMA-Award winning Kissel is indeed adding his unique artistic perspective to the rich musical tradition that has inspired and sustained him for as long as he can remember. On Pick Me Up, there is no disputing he now belongs to that tradition and will continue adding to it for years to come.
