Next Generation Leahy

Next Generation Leahy
Thursday, December 15 @ 7 p.m.
Price – $31.50 + HST + ticket service fee

This December, join The Next Generation Leahy as they share the magic of Christmas with you. Doug Leahy and his wife Jennifer, together with their children, bring over three generations of Leahy musicianship to their celebration through music, song, and dance. Still all in elementary school, the children are accomplished multi-instrumentalists.   Live performances are filled with the high-energy, infectious Celtic-based music people associate with the Leahy heritage. Fiddle, cello, French accordion, singing, piano, and French-Canadian step-dancing all find a voice on stage. This rare talent in children so young is an inspiration to other children and families alike, showing just what young people are capable of.  Next Generation Leahy Christmas performance is all this and more. Not only do the Leahy children exhibit a joie de vivre in general, the focus on the beautiful music of the Christmas season makes the night truly magical. Audiences can’t help but be moved and are put in the right spirit for the arrival of Christmas.  The joy of music is meant for all, and Doug and his family are set on sharing that joy with each and every audience.

Brett Kissel

Price – $52.50 + ticket service fees

There must be something in the kick drum drumming, there must be something in the guitar strumming.”  It’s tempting to describe the chorus of Brett Kissel’s latest smash single, “Airwaves,” as what’s gotten him to this point, but that barely scratches the surface of the artistic growth Kissel displays on his new album, Pick Me Up. The pride of Flat Lake, Alberta has already reached a place very few other Canadian country music artists have attained, but defying the odds has been Kissel’s mission his entire life, the result of a tireless work ethic instilled while growing up on his family’s farm. Following the incredible success of his 2013 major label debut, Started With A Song, Pick Me Up shows that, like a thoroughbred just out of the gate, Kissel is hitting his stride.  The JUNO and CCMA-Award winning Kissel is indeed adding his unique artistic perspective to the rich musical tradition that has inspired and sustained him for as long as he can remember. On Pick Me Up, there is no disputing he now belongs to that tradition and will continue adding to it for years to come.

Murray McLauchlan

Shantero Productions presents Murray McLauchlan
Thursday, March 2 @ 7:30 p.m.
Price – $45.00 including HST + ticket service fee
Murray McLauchlan is one of Canada’s most highly regarded singer/songwriters, and with good cause. Over a 40-year career, he has released 18 albums and been awarded 11 Junos. His songs Farmer’s Song, Down by the Henry Moore, Whispering Rain and Sweeping the Spotlight Away are now considered Canadian standards. Murray is also a painter, an author, an actor, a radio host; he’s been bestowed an Honourary Doctor of Laws and appointed to The Order of Canada. That’s quite a ride. Yet some may wonder where he’s been of late. Murray did tour in support of his 2012 critically acclaimed release Human Writes, but then decided to take a break. Other interests prevailed and he restricted his touring to shows with Lunch At Allen’s, the supergroup he co-founded, whose members also include Ian Thomas, Marc Jordan and Cindy Church.  But now Murray is on the road in his own right once more. Here’s what he has to say: “As a songwriter I know that it’s not enough to sit in your kitchen and write. Your songs need to be heard. Music is a communicative art and if it isn’t brought in front of people there is no way to tell if that end has been met. I like to think of a concert tour as a kind of roving gallery to test your art and your ideas. I try to do my very best to make it worthwhile for folks to be there and to perhaps look at things in a new way when they leave.”  And this, in a nutshell, is the Murray McLauchlan concert experience.

Matt Andersen

Shantero presents Matt Andersen
Saturday, March 25 @ 7:30 p.m.
Price – $45.00 including HST + ticket service fee

Watch Video Here!

A powerhouse performer, Matt Andersen’s “fingers sail over his acoustic guitar strings with the speed and grace of a hummingbird,” he has a giant yet soul-filled and passionate voice, and a commanding stage presence. In a word, Andersen is awesome! With over 5 million views on YouTube, independent album sales topping 30,000, a European Blues Award, Maple Blues Awards and Best Solo Performer at the Memphis Blues Challenge, Andersen’s worldwide fan base shows no signs of slowing down.  Since the release of Weightless in early 2014, Andersen has received a Juno nomination for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year, a CIMA Road Gold award, and a Maple Blues Award for Male Vocalist of the Year.  His ninth full-length album Honest Man, was released to rave reviews via True North Records earlier this year: “ Honest Man is an album full of transcendent musical moments.”  Fans can continue to depend on Andersen delivering the electrifying, jaw-dropping shows which have traditionally given rise to spontaneous mid-set standing ovations. The London Times says, “Canada’s greatest guitarist made one acoustic guitar sound like a fully staffed band. Outrageous skill and contagious joy!” But, perhaps his shows are best summed up by a reviewer for,who writes: “It’s rare to see someone so accomplished make something look like it could be so effortless, but between his voice, his guitar work and his songwriting talents, Andersen pulls it off.” … and that sums up a Matt Andersen concert perfectly!
